Biography Coaching
Are you working on a biography, or just thinking about writing one? As a member (and past president) of Biographers International Organization (BIO), I have helped dozens of biographers with the following tasks:
- conceptualizing their books;
- writing successful proposals and pitch letters;
- using their time wisely at archives;
- interviewing the subject's family, friends, and colleagues;
- selecting and editing sample chapters for the proposal; and
- improving the organization, flow, and tone of the entire manuscript.
The wide-ranging subjects of the biographers I've coached include: artists, writers, a U.S. president, religious leaders, a history-making attorney, a famous comedian, a porn star, and a clinical pathologist.
My own experience is with both university and trade presses: three biographies with Oxford University Press and a fourth published by W. W. Norton.
I charge $90/hour, with a two-hour minimum, and I usually respond to initial queries within twenty-four hours.
